I have set up my new DMREX77 (got it yesterday!). When I switch on the Panasonic it does not change the TV signal. Click to expand. It looks like the 'remote number' is set by the last user. I will have to login and reset this back to the 525 remote before you are able to use it. (I will PM you when I've done it as I am at work now and have no access to the remote.) The last user was zacthedog and he has the 768 remote. So hey people it looks like we can only share this account with 525 remote users. Sorry about that, maybe some others with Harmony remotes and is able to set up the hack could do so and create dummy accounts to share for different versions of the Harmony. Total newbie here. I stumbled across this forum when idly thinking about trying to make my DMR ex75 region free.
I thought I would at least re-assure those out there who are also attempting this that it is possible. I achieved using a Dell X50 PDA and downloading the shareware remote software (version 5.74) and accompanying CCF file. I didn't have much of a clue what I was doing at first having tried to copy the exe program direct to the PDA and not being able to install was a little mystified. I then tried installing direct on my PC which worked a treat and automatically placed the program in the Active Sync folder which than allowed me to transfer to my PDA.
Next problemwas to transfer the CCF file; after a bit of trial and error I eventually made it transfer in to the PDA My Docs folder and was then able to access it by selecting Options, then CCF, then load CCF. As soon as I did that I was presented with the screen as shown in the Screenshot on the CCF download page. However, what then??
I tried pressing RCE to see what happened and the PDA just beeped 10 times and didn't seem to do anything else. I then pointed it at the EX75 and tried again and nothing happened.
I was about 3 feet away at the time. Back to the forums. And the solution was found in that I needed to be far closer. In fact literally 1-2cms away from the right hand side of the player and press RCE again. DVD was switched on and the tray was open. This time the channel number changed randomly and after 10 beeps from the PDA, the DVD displayed 'reset' in progress.
After about 15 secs it was ready to go. Loaded a Region 1 DVD and it worked! Loaded a Region 2 and that worked as well. Many thanks to all concerned in building up the picture via the thread.
As i stated at the beginning, I wanted to re-assure anyone out there that the hack is possible on a DMR EX75 using a Dell Axim X50 PDA. It looks like the 'remote number' is set by the last user. Click to expand.sont was kind enough to reset his shared Harmony account and make it usable for Harmony 525 users again.
I successfully loaded the remote profile on my Harmony 525 remote control. Next I zapped my Panasonic DVD-S53 with it (player on, no disc inside, pressing remote control buttons 1. 0 in sequence with about 1 second interleave. At first I thought my attempts were fruitless, as my DVD player did not reset or change indications on its display.
Later I tried playing a region 5 DVD (player was bought as a region 2 machine) and that worked without any problem! Conclusion: sont's Harmony 525 profile works on the Panasonic DVD-S53. Request to people with a Logitech Harmony remote control OTHER THAN the 525 model: please DO NOT attempt to load sont's Harmony profile through the shared account, because it will NOT work and you will mess up the profile stored on the site, rendering it useless for other Harmony 525 users. The downloadable profile ONLY seems to work on Harmony 525 remotes for now. READ ME PLEASE!
I no longer maintain the shared profiles for the region free hack for Panasonic DVD players/combos. Users have screwed up the two accounts that have been in operation, by either accidentally deleting or modifying the region free hack profile. I have no longer the time to maintain these profiles, and they pose a problem to users, as the last user had his machine's region set to some other unknown region, and hence the box rejecting all discs. Original message below: So anyone with a Logitech Harmony 520, 525, 555, 668, 785, 880 or 855 remote§ with a Panasonic device that is known to be able to be made region free with the, then PM me and I'll send the details of the account for the device with the codes programmed in to the 1 to 9 and 0 buttons. Click to expand.I've been monitoring these threads for quite a long time and I've only ever seen one unsubstantiated claim that an SC/SA type panasonic dvd player has been made region-free with a free hack, but no details have ever been forthcoming.
I do believe that you can pay for a remote to unlock these types of players but I haven't tried it myself. I think the method that has been repeated over and over in this thread was a bit of a breakthrough discovery and sadly doesn't apply to the panasonic home theatre players. Still we live in hope.
I know that my post sounds like scare tactics but time will tell. The FT01, FT02 and ST MODE errors cannot be recovered from by using either a simple factory reset or the restore defaults string as you mention. I'm sure that Justin will agree ( a competitor and sponsor of this forum ) that there is another sequence required to recover from these errors, it can be sent by a one for all remote but for now the codes remain only in the hands of a limited few.
Incidentally the string of commands you have posted is only 10 commands long whereas the genuine string intended for this purpose is 12 commands long so something is missing from what you seem to have discovered which may or may not be important. Steve On behalf of a chipped remote outlet.
Click to expand. I also got the fault FT02 on my S97 DVD player, but I discovered that I did some thing wrong then I sent the codes from my PDA to the DVD player. The iso file DOES not work on S97 and needier do the pdf file. But the ccf file transferred to my LOOK PDA worked fine. The thing I did wrong was to start with 'RC1' key and then 'RC2' key and so on.
What I didnt see was that the key was standing for area and free zones, and there for I got the failure message FT02. After understanding this I only pressed the RCE key, and the failure message FT02 disappeared and everything went back to normal. And of Corse no I can see all my over seas DVD again on this on also. Thank Virus, every thing went well, used ca 2 hours to do this. Sorry for my English language, but to hell with that. Send me a mail if more info is needed for S97 dvd player. Hello, I have a DMR-E95H Panasonic and have tried the PocketPC IR method using the instructions posted on However I had no luck in unlocking the region codes or RCE.
It seems that after I push just one button whether it be the RCE button or any of the other RC1, RC2, etc. It locks up the application and I must force it to close. My DVD recorder does nothing so I know it did not work.
The device I am using is the HTC TyTn and it is Windows Mobile 5.0 Any advice would be greatly appreciated. HI,i have a panasonic sc-pt450. I read on here that you can't do a normal remote hack on this model. I paid £2.75 for a no chipped remote hack. They sent me a.dvd file and said put it on a cdr. I can't ge tthis to lay in the machine.
I'm not sure exactly how i'm supposed to burn it? What the instructions say is ' 3, Place the SCARLET folder on a CDR 4, switch on DVD Player (or Recorder) and press eject 5, Place the disk in the drive and press play 6, Select zero(0) on the remote control#' i do not know what i am supposed to do exactly with the.dvd file.
Should i burn it as a data cd? I've tried putting in a sub older off the root called scarlet (as the instructions say) and tried putting it in the root of the dic. The player just says it cannot read the disc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. HI,i have a panasonic sc-pt450. I read on here that you can't do a normal remote hack on this model. I paid £2.75 for a no chipped remote hack.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Click to expand.hi. The instructions and file i paid the £2.75 from where the same as this link: i had a go yesterday by putting the kpjc191.dvd file in the root, in a SCARLET sub folder, then in RMTM0000/SCARLET folder.
The player could not read the disk on any of these occasiosn. Just to make sure it wasnt the brand of disk, i burnt some pictures to it and it worked as vcd without any problems. If you do a google for 'kpjc191.dvd' there are a few threads about it. I couldnt get it to work, but i might well have done something wrong. Thanks to Chachi and other forum members for making my DMR-EX77 region free I followed the procedure as described on this forum and it worked perfectly.
Some people seem to be having trouble getting it to work, so I've documented the procedure, which I hope is fool proof. Please read this procedure from start to finish prior to reprogramming your DMR-EX77. I take no responsibility for you screwing up your unit from following this procedure, so you're on your own.
Please note. You will need a laptop with an Infrared (IR) port to use this method.
Most modern laptops have now dispensed with IR ports in favour of WiFi and Bluetooth, so you may need to forage around and find an older laptop with IR. 1) Download both parts of Chachi's RAR file (both of these files can be easily found on this forum). You will need both files, as the ISO image file has been split across two compressed files.
2) Using WinRAR or WinZip unpack the ISO image file to a folder on your hard disk (the desktop is a good place, so you can easily find it later). To successfully unpack the ISO image file, both of Chachi's RAR files must reside in the same folder. As you extract the ISO file from the first archive, WinRAR or WinZip will automatically move to the second file and continue the unpacking process. After the unpacking process has completed you will be left with a single file with the extension ISO. 3) Using Nero (or similar), use the 'Burn Image to Disk' feature to burn the ISO CD image onto a blank CD (just copying the ISO image file onto a CD will not work). I used Nero to achieve this, but most CD burning software can do the same.
4) On the laptop, ensure that the IR port is set to COM2 in the BIOS (note the original settings, so you can put them back after you have reprogrammed DMR-EX77). Try to select an older IR mode if available. My old Toshiba Satellite 4030CDT only supported FAST IR modes and wouldn't work. I then switched to an Acer Aspire 2000 and through trial and error found the 'IrDA (HPSIR)' mode worked perfectly. 5) Boot the laptop from the CD If your laptop does not give you the option to change the boot drive order at POST, you may need to temporarily change your boot drive order in the BIOS (note the original settings, so you can put them back after you have reprogrammed DMR-EX77). 6) When the laptop has sucessfully booted from the CD you will be presented with a menu.
Using the down cursor key, select option '4. Minimal Boot' and press return. 7) At the 'A: ' prompt type 'cd winamp' and press return. 8) At the next prompt 'A: WINAMP ' type 'winsamp' and press return. 9) The Remote control test tool should now be loaded (blue screen with white text). 10) Press the 'r' key to load in the REMOTE.TXT file (this file contains the IR signal information required to reprogram your DMR-EX77). 11) The captions 'button 1' to 'button 10' near the bottom of the screen will now have changed from white to pink.
These are the emulated buttons you will need to press in order to unlock you unit. Ensure 'button 1' is highlighted before proceeding to the next step. 12) Power on your DMR-EX77 and switch it to DVD mode.
You must ensure the disk tray is empty during this process. I had my disk tray empty and ejected (sticking out) during the process just as a precaution. 13) Point the IR port on your laptop at the IR receiver on your DMR-EX77. The IR port on the DMR-EX77 is located just above the DVD/CD Open/Close button on the right of the unit.
I found the optimum distance between the laptop and the infrared receiver on the DMR-EX77 was approximately 56 centimetres, any more and it may not work. 14) With the IR ports aligned and 'button 1' highlighted in pink press the return key on the laptop, wait a moment, cursor right to 'button 2' and press the return key, wait a moment, cursor right to 'button 3' etc. Keep repeating this procedure until you have entered all buttons highlighted in pink from 1 to 10 in order. If your DMR-EX77 reacts as mine did during the process you may see the display on the DMR-EX77 change and also experience the TV channel changing. Don't panic as this appears to be quite normal during the unlocking process.
15) If all has gone well the display on the DMR-EX77 should now read 'HELLO' and you should hear the hard disk spin down for a second, then spin up again. The DMR-EX77 has new reset itself and has successfully been reprogrammed. Leave the unit alone for approximately 1015 seconds before doing anything else, just to be on the safe side. 16) The buttons on the front of the DMR-EX77 unit will no longer function, so switch the DMR-EX77 off using the remote control. If you left the tray poking out during the reprogramming process (as I did), just wait a few seconds and it will close automatically, you can then switch off the DMR-EX77 using the remote. There is no need to disconnect the DMR-EX77 from the mains supply.
17) Switch the unit back on, pop in any region DVD you like, sit back and enjoy If this procedure fails or you make a mistake don't panic! Switch off your DMR-EX77 using the power button and leave it off for a few seconds.
Switch back on your DMR-EX77 and when it's ready try the proceedure again. I failed several times initially, but it didn't seem to do any harm and everything is fine. You may also find that changing the IR mode setting in your laptops BIOS may help. I had to try a few different modes until I found one that worked. If you can't find the files you need, or require the procedure for using another type of device to region free your DMR-EX77, then visit.
Hi All (First post!!) I have a Panasonic DMR EX77, and wanted to make it multi region so was over the moon when I found this thread. I read a lot of the pages, and decided the best way for me would be the all-in-one remote. Scooted down to Argos and bought the £20 remote (as suggested by an earlier thread) and completed the task without hassle.yipee.region free.it worked. BUT.I now seem to have lost the ability to record onto DVD's. Every disc I put in is now coming up with unreadable.
Has anyone else found this? Hi all, Ok, well searched through pages and pages on here and am not able to get this hack to work on my DMR-ES20D. I know others have but I can't! I'm using the Kameleon URC-8040 which accepts all the commands fine but when I fire them at the DVD Recorder all that happens is that it jumps around a few channels and ends on channel 81! I've tried assigning each command to number buttons and doing it that way but the same thing still happens. R1 discs still do not play (tested it after each time).
It looks to me like the service menu code does not actually do anything. It inputs in using the Magic button fine but nothing actually happens! Is my DMR-ES20D somehow different?
Has the service menu code been changed at some point? Just spent 3 hours trying to get this to work so would appreciate any help with this! Thanks - Gord.
